Ingredients:
3
large eggs
¾
cup granulated sugar
½
cup of butter, melted and cooled
2
tablespoons pure vanilla extract
1
teaspoon baking powder
1
cup all-purpose flour
Preparation:
Beat
the eggs, adding in the sugar gradually. Beat until smooth. After that, add the
cooled melted butter and the vanilla. That morning went by pretty slow as the
snow covered the ground thinker and thinker. I just kept to my task of watching
TV with my mom and step dad till there was a knock on the back door.
“Who
could that be?” my mother said slightly startled and surprised. She had got up
from the couch and took a few steps to door. Opening she had been even more
shocked to see who it was
“Shadow
your friend’s here”
“Paige?”
I said a bit confused still staring at the TV
“No,
it’s Shaun your boyfriend” she had said with a joking tone on the word
boyfriend.
“Oh,
ha-ha” I said mocking a laugh as I turned in my chair to see him. Giving him a
wink I waved at him to come inside as my mom held the door open.
“Hey
baby” he had step in the house laughing, his big winter jacket covered in
snowflakes, along with his boots and pants leg.
“Well
me and your mother got to run to the store, you two be good while we are gone.”
My step dad had said as he got up from the couch. Shaun had taken off his
jacket, boots, and pants; luckily he was wearing another pair on.
“Ummm…you
comfortable yet dude?” I said watching him curiously, as I go up and walked
over to him.
“You
know it girl?” he said with a snicker as he clapped his hands, rubbing them
together.
“Now
you ready to cook?”
“Cook?!
Cook what?!”
“This
silly!” he smiled reaching in his pocket handing me the recipes for snow ice
cream and waffle bowls
Stir
in the baking powder and flour, and blend evenly, making a sticky substance.
Test the thickness by getting a spoonful and dropping it back in the batter. As
I tested it, tilling the spoon and watching the batter slowly dripping back
into the bowl. It had quickly plopped down splashing some of the batter on my
face when Shaun had bumped into my arm while he was getting the rest of the
tools needed.
“Shaun
you idiot! Watch where you’re walking!” I yelled standing straight up. He
leaned over the counter seeing the dots of batter on my face.
“Opps,
sorry Shadow” he said smiling nervously.
“Let
me get that for you” he carefully put down the stuff and took his finger
swiping the batter off my face then licking it off his finger.
“Mmmm…yummy!”
he smiled big setting up for the next steps.
Drop a heaping tablespoon of batter
onto a heated machine maker and close lid then bake. Luckily these only take 30
to 40 seconds to bake each one; you can just bake until your desired golden is
reached.
“Pssh!
Hey hey hey Shadow!” Shaun whispered in my ear as I would drop the batter on to
the heating pad.
“Yes
Shaun?” I would replied a bit annoyed.
“Don’t
burn yourself ok?”
“Shaun…I
already know this”
“Yea
but just be careful ok?” he said with a big smile on his face.
While still warm and before putting
on the next one, place over the back of a bowl and press down slightly to
shape, or trim with a sharp knife or pizza cutter and make squares. This has to
be done quickly as they will crisp up fast.
“Omg!
Put hearts all over it!” Shaun yelled exactly as he fell backwards over the
couch.
“Shaun?!
Holy foddle nuggets! Are you ok?!” I yelled as I rushed towards him and helped
him up.
“You
idiot are you ok?”
“Yup,
love you”
“You
too” I said blushing as I went back to cooking.
After the first one you taste test
for the flavor and crispness, then you will know if you have to bake longer or
not so long. I broke off a small piece and went to put it in my mouth, but
Shaun took the piece from my hand and quickly ate it. All the sudden he fell
back against the wall holding his chest.
“Oh
my goodness…I’m dying from awesome overload to my taste buds!” he laughed as he
went over to the hearted waffle bowl and licked it.
“This
one is mine I claim it!”
“Wooow!”
ok then it’s all yours please don’t die anymore times dude” we laughed as we
repeater the steps 3 more times one for me, my mom, and step dad.
Ingredients:
8
cups snow, or shaved ice
1(14-
ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1
teaspoon vanilla extract
Preparation:
Place
snow or shaved ice into a large bowl. Pour condensed milk over and add vanilla.
Mix to combine, and then serve immediately in the waffle bowls.
“8
cups of snow?” I asked as I looked at ingredients
“Yup”
he nodded as dressed to go outside.
“Be
right back I will get the cleanest snow I see” he smiled as he left the house
with a bowl and cup. He came back shivering as he got undress again, placing
the bowl of snow on the counter. We finally had finished and had 4 beautiful
waffle bowls with ice cream. Thankfully my mom walked back in from the store
just in time. I remember how she went on and on about how crazy we were for
making ice cream in the winter. She still ate it anyways and started to say how
good it was, me and Shaun just laughed when she did.
When my mom moved from New Hampshire
I had to say bye to Shaun, which sucked since he was an amazing friend. It’s
almost been two years since I saw him or heard from him. Last Christmas I made
our ice cream with waffle bowls, I hearted specially for him. I will be sure to
make them this Christmas and all the ones after it hoping it will turn out as
good as it did when he was with me.
